Welcome to Como! A beautiful city to visit not only in summer but also in other seasons.
With the right clothing and shoes nothing will stop you and you will be able to take advantage of the less crowded and quieter city to enjoy a beautiful walk in autumn, winter or spring and to photograph some enchanting landscapes.
We like to think this way, that you should always live life to the fullest and collect unforgettable memories regardless of the weather.
Roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, hot chocolate, polenta and many other local specialties will make your days special and worth living.

Our favorite day trips
FROM COMO TO BRUNATE - MONTE BOLETTO

Brunate is a must-see destination in Como, easily reachable in about 15 minutes from the lakefront, both by car or with the funicular wich has a panoramic view. Once you arrive in Brunate at the funicular stop, you can start an uphill hiking trail that takes you first to the Brunate Lighthouse in about 30 minutes on foot, then climbing further you reach Piazzale Cao in about 15 minutes. From here, a wonderful trail starts that in about an hour takes you to the panoramic point near Mount Bolletto. Incredible silence and wonderful landscapes are what awaits you after the walk.
Along the entire trail there are huts and refreshment points where you can stop to rest and taste typical local dishes.
FROM VIA RIMOLDI TO CASTEL BARADELLO

Start on foot from our apartment and take Via Rimoldi, going up towards the Scuola San Carpoforo which is right in front of you when you leave the building. Follow the dirt road next to the school and continue until you reach a descent with some stairs. Follow the brown signs that you will find at the bottom of the stairs and continue straight on the asphalt road, after about half an hour of walking you will reach a clearing with a panoramic view of the city of Como and you can also enter the Castle by following the paths next to it (if the gates are closed). From there you can continue to follow the various paths: some will take you back to the city, others will take you into the Parco della Spina Verde until you reach other panoramic points or other surrounding villages. You can collect nettles to make a delicious risotto or, in autumn, collect chestnuts to cook in a pan on the stove.
THE STAIRWAY TO PARADISE - MONTEOLIMPINO
The Scala del Paradiso of Monteolimpino is a path that can be reached by bus no. 1 from the Autosilo Valmulini stop a few steps from our apartment, getting off at the stop before the customs at Ponte Chiasso (border with Switzerland).
Following the sign on the main road in via Bellinzona, after a few minutes you will take an uphill path of about 900 steps in the woods, which takes you in about an hour to this wonderful terrace in nature offering one of the most beautiful views of Lake Como. During the journey there will also be the possibility of crossing a characteristic Tibetan bridge.
The route is really worthy because the view really repays all the efforts.

THE GREENWAY OF LAKE COMO

The Greenway of Lake Como is a wonderful path that passes through several historical and suggestive villages. The route is about 10 km long, starting from Colonno and arriving in Griante.
From our apartment take bus no. 8 towards Como San Giovanni train station and get off at the terminus. From there take bus C10 and get off at Colonno on Strada Statale Regina continuing along Via Cappella, then follow the signs: you will find both signs and concrete trapdoors with the words "Greenway del Lago di Como" engraved on them.

THE GIANT BENCH IN SAN FEDELE INTELVI

We recommend doing this trip by car for greater convenience and speed of the journey, although we personally used the buses departing from the Como San Giovanni train station (C10 and C21), taking advantage of the opportunity to read a good book.
You can drive almost to the bench but we recommend parking your car in Casasco d'Intelvi and then walking up to enjoy the villages and the wonderful landscape.
You will take wonderful photos and enjoy one of the most beautiful and silent panoramic views of Lake Como. Near the bench there is also a restaurant where you can stop and rest.
FROM COMO TO LECCO - IL SENTIERO DEL VIANDANTE

We believe that at least once in your life you should walk the Sentiero del Viandante, a path with a thousand faces and incredible landscapes, a path that is good for the eyes, the body and above all the soul.
From Como Camerlata train station take the train to Monza where you have to change and then take the train to Sondrio. Get off at the Abbadia Lariana stop and take Via Onedo. You will then find the characteristic orange signs that will direct you throughout the route.
The Viandate path is divided into several stages. Here we recommend the most beautiful ones in our opinion, each of which can be done on a different day:
-from Abbadia Lariana to Mandello del Lario;
-from Abbadia Lariana to the Cenghen waterfalls;
-from Varenna to Fiumelatte (through the Greenway dei Patriarchi);
-from Varenna to Vezio Castle.
We absolutely recommend visiting both Mandello del Lario and Varenna and finding time to discover all the villages reachable by train stops, including Colico.

FROM COMO TO MORBEGNO - LA VAL DI MELLO

We recommend doing this trip by car. In about an hour and 40 minutes from Como you arrive up to Val Masino and once you have parked the car in San Martino, a beautiful route begins that leads up to Val di Mello.
If you go in the cool seasons you can see the snow and the crystal clear lake in some places of a wonderful blue color and in others of emerald green. In summer, in August, the lake will have less water due to the end of the melting process of the snow on the surrounding peaks.
The walk will be very suggestive in any case and it will be possible to stop at the various huts to taste the typical local dishes such as pizzoccheri, scitt, taroz and polenta.
